Chef Olrie Roberts

Grenada native Olrie Roberts credits his grandmother for inspiring his love of food and creation.  He grew up in Trinidad, raised on fresh produce, spices and seafood before moving to New York as a teenager.  While attending Boston’s Le Cordon Bleu, he interned in Spain, where he continued to hone his flavor profiles.

Before opening his own restaurant he worked several years at Konditor Meister learning the delicate art of baking and designing.  He also worked 6 years at Granite Links Country Club as a saucier.

Now chef and owner of ZaZ Restaurant in Hyde Park, he has won the 2012 Boston Main Streets Outstanding Business Awards.  ZaZ was named after his two children and loves of his life, Zariah and Zalin.

The ZaZ menu continues to evolve as Chef Roberts successfully incorporates a variety of culture based flavors.  Caribbean, Asian, Italian and Spanish flavors have all found a wonderful balance in his kitchen and his love of learning and understanding the possibilities great ingredients can make, keeps him refining and enhancing his techniques.
